One-to-one lessons offer you a programme which is designed precisely to your own unique requirements. In this way, you achieve the best results possible because the teacher is able to focus on your needs and personal learning style in each lesson. 

There is an entry level test prior to the start of the course so the tutor can identify the areas which you most need to work on. You also complete a detailed Needs Analysis with a tutor who will adapt the course to ensure professional or academic goals are met. 

Progress is constantly monitored in weekly tests to track progress and ensure that targets are met. Tutors set new goals each week to make sure learners remain motivated and challenged throughout the course.

Specialisation

Individual lessons can be tailored to meet specific academic or professional needs, including exam preparation, university entrance exams and English for the workplace or specific careers.

Prepare for the IELTS or Cambridge exams by focussing on skills and strategies. 

Courses include practice exercises and drills, practice in spoken English, coaching in essay writing and practice exams under timed conditions. Tutors provide feedback from these tasks, and guidance on how to improve your score the next time.

Tutors also familiarise you with the exam format and marking criteria helping you to best understand what to do for each of the sections to achieve the highest score possible.

Areas of academic specialisation include exam preparation, university entrance preparation and the skills needed to excel in higher education. This includes personal statement composition, application and/or interview techniques.

One-to-one lessons can also equip you with the skills needed to enter English language higher education, including; academic subject knowledge and cultural awareness, giving presentations, essay structuring and developing critical thinking skills.

Depending on your professional requirements, topics can include gaining confidence in workplace scenarios such as meetings, negotiations, presentations, telephoning, emails and reports, or developing the specialist vocabulary to communicate successfully in the workplace in areas such as law, business, finance or medicine.

A Linguaskill Business or General exam can be taken at the end of any course. For Reading and Listening, or Speaking, or Writing. The fee is £41 per exam or £95 for all of the exams.
